The B.C. Agrifood Venture Acceleration Program provides training, one-on-one coaching and a network that empowers start-up and early stage agrifood technology entrepreneurs to maximize commercialization opportunities and accelerate growth

Bioenterprise BC

Sumas Regional Consortium for High Tech (SRCTec)

Bioenterprise BC is a business accelerator that supports the commercialization of innovations in agriculture and helps increase agri-food revenue. Bioenterprise BC operates through a service delivery model that is highly integrative and collaborative with the services of other organizations in B.C., including the Sumas Regional Consortium for High Tech (SRCTec) and the BC Acceleration Network – BC Innovation Council.

Canada-BC Agri-Innovation Program

IAFBC

The Canada-BC Agri-Innovation Program (CBCAIP) provides cost-shared funding to support industry-led, late-stage research, pilot and pre-commercial demonstration projects that lead to the commercialization and/or adoption of innovative products, processes, practices, and technologies in B.C.

On-Farm Food Safety & Traceability Program

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC)

The On Farm Food Safety and Traceability (OFFST) Program provides cost-shared funding to eligible B.C. agrifood businesses to address current food safety and traceability issues and to meet emerging national and international food safety and traceability standards.

Post-Farm Food Safety & Traceability Program

Food Processing Human Resources Council (FPHRC)

The Post-Farm Food Safety & Traceability Program (PFFSTP) provides cost-shared funding to eligible B.C. food and beverage manufacturing facilities, to improve the capacity to address current food safety and traceability issues and to meet emerging national and international food safety and traceability requirements.

Century Farm and Ranch Awards

Ministry of Agriculture

The Century Farm Awards honour pioneers whose farm, ranch or agricultural organization have been active in B.C. for 100 years.

Youth Development Program

4-H BC The Youth Development program works in conjunction with 4-H British Columbia to deliver agriculture education and training to young British Columbians, ages 6-25.

Apprenticeship program - 9 agriculture trades programs available

 

Industry Training Authority (ITA) BC

ITA is responsible for leading and coordinating the skilled trades training and credentialing system for the province. ITA provides strategic leadership, policy support and customer services to help apprentices, employers and industry. ITA sets program standards, maintains credential records and issues the highly regarded Interprovincial Red Seal and B.C. Certificate of Qualifications (C of Q) credentials.

 

Financial Support

Western Livestock Price Insurance Program (WLPIP) 

The Western Livestock Price Insurance Program (WLPIP) is a risk management tool, allowing producers to purchase price protection on cattle and hogs, in the form of an insurance policy. 

 

Wildfire Recovery (BC Wildfires AgriRecovery Initiative

Provides funding to assist agricultural producers with the extraordinary costs incurred to recover from the adverse effects of the 2017 wildfire season.

Agriculture Income Protection (AgriStability)

Agriculture producers can adapt and invest in their farm operation by managing the risk of small and large income declines.

Production Insurance

Agricultural producers are accustomed to adjusting to difficult weather. If particularly bad weather strikes, ruined crops can devastate farm budgets. Insurance helps producers manage their risk of crop losses caused by hail, spring frost, excessive rain, flooding, drought, etc.

 

 

Market Development

B.C. Agrifood & Seafood Export Program 

IAFBC

The B.C. Agrifood & Seafood Export Program provides cost-shared funding to eligible agrifood and seafood businesses and organizations to increase export sales and expand international market access through participation in international market development activities.

 

Buy Local Program

IAFBC

The Buy Local Program helps B.C. producers and processors promote their local agrifood and seafood products to increase consumer demand and sales within B.C. and support food security.

Grow Local Program

AgriService BC

Grow Local provides funding for ten communities to encourage British Columbians to grow their own fresh fruit and vegetables and help strengthen local food-supply security.

 

Wildfire - Farm Business Recovery Advisory Services Program

Access to basic financial analysis, specialized business planning and coaching services to implement an immediate and long-term wildfire recovery plan.

Tree Fruit Replant

The B.C. Tree Fruit Replant Program, announced in November 2014, provides financial help for growers to replace fruit trees with varieties that will meet consumer demands for high-value, high-quality B.C. fruit.

Crop & Livestock Loss or Damage Due to Wildlife

Agriculture producers can get compensation due to wildlife damage to some harvested and unharvested crops by enrolling in the Agriculture Wildlife Program.

Livestock Price Insurance

This insurance offers protection against an unexpected drop in prices over a defined period of time. Livestock producers can purchase price protection on cattle and hogs in the form of an insurance policy. Coverage is based on a number of market driven factors and can be managed on-line.

Agricultural Income & Savings Account (AgriInvest)

AgriInvest helps you manage small income declines, and provides support for investments to mitigate risks or improve market income.

British Columbia AgriStability Enhancement Program

The British Columbia government has made special provisions to help producers who suffered income declines in 2017.  

 

 

Environmental Sustainability

Greenhouse Carbon Tax Relief Grant

Since 2012 the B.C. government has provided carbon tax relief to B.C. commercial vegetable, floriculture, wholesale nursery and forest seedling greenhouses. The Greenhouse Carbon Tax Relief Grant (GCTRG) covers 80 per cent of the carbon tax paid on natural gas and propane used for greenhouse heating and C02 production.

 

The Canadian Agricultural Partnership is a five-year, $3 billion investment by federal, provincial and territorial governments to strengthen the agriculture and agri-food sector.
