Tourism Business Essentials Guides

The Tourism Business Essentials guides are free, practical resources for tourism operators to learn more about the tourism industry and about how to build their businesses. 

Other Tourism Industry Guides

This 90-page handbook was produced to help community leaders throughout B.C. realize greater benefits from tourism. It serves as a comprehensive introduction to the industry, and outlines an effective community-based tourism planning process.

Destination British Columbia

provides co-operative marketing and promotion support to Regional Destination Marketing Organizations, Community Consortiums, Sector Organizations or approved Individual and Paired Communities in British Columbia.

Regional Tourism Programs

Destination British Columbia works with regional, community and industry partners on multiple programs designed to support the growth of the industry through cooperative marketing and development initiatives.

Municipal and Regional District Tax Program

Destination British Columbia

Provides funding for local tourism marketing, programs and projects. The tax is intended to help grow BC revenues, visitation and jobs, and amplify BC's tourism marketing efforts in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Resort Municipality Initiative (RMI) program

The program is intended to assist small, tourism-based municipalities to support and increase visitation. The RMI program funds projects which result in key outcomes for resort-based communities.

Tourism Events Program Destination British Columbia

Provides funding for events that raise awareness of B.C.'s tourism brands nationally and internationally, and that motivate Canadians and people from around the world to travel and experience B.C.'s natural beauty and world class infrastructure.
